This is a bronze statue of Confucius … the age is unknown but thought to be antique. The original paint has worn off in areas showing original metal underneath which appears to be more copper than bronze normally has. The statue is 1 lb 3.3 oz and 5.3” by 2.5” by 1.7” and is hollow inside so that it sings when handled. He holds a textured ball in his right hand and a long staff (that extends slightly over his head) in his left. Both front and back are detailed with Chinese characters. He has a flowing beard and will stand easily in your garden or altar spaces.

Confucius was a Chinese teacher, editor, politician, and philosopher of the Spring and Autumn period of China. It was he who coined the Golden Rule and above all, considered family the center and model for the ideal government. His writings were used to form the basis for Chinese law, particularly regarding ethics. As a center for your altar, he brings knowledge, wisdom, clarity and reason to the energies. And he is a stunning piece as well!
