This came from a shipment of items from South Africa and this one really excited me … African jade! This is a 6.3 oz piece of rough, 2.5” by 2.9” by 1.25” and shades of green ranging from very light to medium. Mottled areas of silvery black hematite pass throughout the piece, adding wonderful contrast. African jade isn’t jade at all – it’s a misnomer and actually Transvaal grossular garnet (also known as buddstone) … harder and nicer!
