Red amphibole quartz is from Serra do Cabral Mountains in Brazil. Unlike the lovely pastel or sunrise/sunset-toned amphiboles, these are definite shades of red, sometimes accented with greens, blues and golds and she is a stunning red that shoots through her like little flames … although in her case, her flames are minimal and she has much more clarity than most amphibole quartz. Her sides display unusual glyphs and a healed base and side ding. Amphibole minerals have no crystalline form and meander through the crystal. She is slightly matte and twinned with three polished faces. One twin is stout and the other is about half the sized as I was turning her in the light, I noticed a tiny window between the twins! Although a minimalist, she is simply striking. She is 4.9 oz and 2.55” by 1.9” by 1.4” with some tiny dings remaining.
