This DT crystal was from a newly-found lot of quartz in Messina, South Africa. The famous copper mines there have been closed down for some time and all of the original quartz mined was becoming rare. New finds opened up, only to have closed within a year but the quartz from them is nothing short of amazing! This wonderfully misty DT crystal is 1.5 oz and 2.25” by 1.5” by 0.75” looks rather drab until you backlight it and examine with a loupe. Weird inclusions of deep-red blotches of hematite and areas of golden yellow. There is an elongated Isis face and a bit of specular hematite inside. This one really deserves som exploration! There is a very small, shallow chip on one terminal face but otherwise, this crystal is excellent.
