This is a very unique quartz from Messina, South Africa. The famous copper mines there have been closed down for some time and all of the original quartz mined was becoming rare. New finds have opened up temporarily (all have now closed) and the quartz is nothing short of magnificent … and it’s not all about ajoite. This is a gorgeous and large single point,1 lb 4.1oz and 5.1” by 2.75” by 1.8”. The crystal is largely misted inside and has two earthquake zones where she was damaged within the earth and healed. A single key creases the edge of the well-slanted base. The faces and sides are well glyphed and there are two raised areas of calcite on one side. Each adjacent side has gold and chlorite and the colors are combined like waves. Russet hematite adds color on a terminal face and at the base. With a loupe, you will find epidote and piedmontite combo rods. Every way you turn it you discover something different … a unique but stunning beauty!
