This is an arrival and from the tail-end of the tangerine quartz mines in Diamantina, Brazil as these areas have sadly been converted to eucalyptus forest. This is a beautifully opalescent 3.7 oz crystal crown with slanted base, 2.6” by 1.6” by 1.5”. She has a creamsicle-orange color that is irregular and blotched with areas of tangerine. With tangerine quartz, the color is derived from hematite that was deposited on the outside … hers was pinned on the inside, between the layers, which gives the color an an ethereal feel. A large and deep key divides one side and rises into the adjoining terminal face. And two sides feature a sparse, sugar-like series of gorgeous quartz druse … a loupe is a must! Check the faces with a loupe and you will see “dragon scales” of teeny terminations with teeny trigonic record keepers too! This lovely crystal is in excellent condition!
