This is a gorgeous statement-sized,piece of partially-polished labradorite from Madagascar, 1 lb 15.8 oz and 7.1 by 5” by 1.4”. With no light, the piece looks humble and drab, but turn in the light (especially sunlight) and the shifting colors begin! I thought it was odd that only one side was polished but as as you turn the piece, the colors appear and shimmer on the raw sides with as much brilliance as the polished side … like the auroras against the midnight sky. No one who has ever seen the aurora will ever forget It … it stirs a sense of longing and belonging similar to the call of the geese in the fall. in fact, labradorite has been nick-named the “frozen fire of the Auroras Borealis”! This is a wonderful piece to remind you of those times!
