This is a most unusual pink manganocalcite from Kosovo with glazing on her sides … two sides is are siderite and pyrite, one is siderite and calcite, two are bare and the remaining sides are coated with sparkling calcite druse! She apparently has some students, but they are so covered with druse that it’s hard to tell for sure. She is 2.9 oz and 1.95” by 1.7” by 1.1”. The rhombohedron is a natural crystalline state for calcite and manganocalcite, but usually they have a number of other expressions and are cleaved form large, massive deposits. The cleaving will be along the rhombic lines … believe it or not, if you drop a calcite or manganocalcite on the floor (and DON’T TRY THIS AT HOME), it will break into natural rhombohedrons! She is a gorgeous, soft pink and for a special treat, put her under a black light (ultraviolet) and her manganocalcite turns a HOT pinkish red while her calcite is hot pink! She has an unassuming look but you simply have to give her a chance to show her beauty and she will reward you splendidly!
