This ethereal cluster was from a new find of quartz in Messina, South Africa. The famous copper mines there have been closed down for some time and all of the original quartz mined was becoming rare. New finds have opened up and the quartz is nothing short of amazing, although sadly, these mines have also closed making these quartz treasures to savor. This misted DT cluster is 1 lb and 4.2” by 3.4” by 2.4” and is terminated all over. The base termination is a multi and all red quartz with deposits of red hematite and tiny quartz crystals in the crevices. Her upper crystals have rivets of red hematite and a few rods of piedmontite (aka “red epidote”). The cluster is dominated but a deftly twined large crystal with many fascinating small students surrounding her. There are Lemurian lines on her sides and her faces are wonderfully glyphed! She is in excellent condition.
