These are from an-at-the-time new find several years ago of quartz in Messina, South Africa. The famous copper mines there have been closed down for some time and all of the original quartz mined was becoming rare. New finds have opened up, only to rapidly play out and close … and the quartz is nothing short of magnificent … and it’s not all about ajoite as I quickly discovered. She is a lovely 13.1 oz point, 3.5” by 2.5” by 1.8”. She is fully terminated or healed all over and there are two flatter, well-healed areas and she will securely self-stand on either. Her termination has amazing glyphs and etchings on the faces and Lemurian lines on the sides. Bright green epidote and bright crimson piedmontite (aka ‘red epidote’) highlight two sides and their adjacent faces (a loupe will let you see the little “flowers” created). She is quite excellent!
