This is another spectacular example of the crystals and other minerals coming out of Nigeria. She is glittering and sparkling “cast” of quartz (accented with golden healer), over calcite! A cast is where one crystalline form crystalizes over another and then the first reverts to solution or separates naturally. Her base shows the cast of the calcite that has partially reverted to solution through the eons …if you turn her over, you can see the calcite lining and the perfect, deep imprint of the termination! Casts are different from pseudomorphs. Casts are just like they sound with the base mineral serving as a kind of mold. Pseudomorphs actually replace the original mineral so you would have quartz with say danburite or calcite terminations. Besides being a wondrous geological process, she is a sweet and wondrous accent piece! She weighs 5.6 oz and measures 3.1” by 2.2” by 2.2”. As a note, look at all the pictures to see the "cave"!
