This is an awesome, twinned and fenstered quartz from Madagascar, 1.6 oz and 2.5” by 1” by 0.9”. “Fenster” is “window” in German and thus, the name given to the wonderful chambers of certain quartz - as if you had a window to their many rooms. Her fenstering has made interesting etching on her sides and her russet color is accented by bright yellow-gold inclusions (oil) inside. These are oil inclusions that glow like luminous yellow fireflies under ultraviolet (black) light! These are exceedingly rare inclusions as these oil “enhydros” are known from only a few areas around the world and attest to organic matter during the crystal’s formation. If you examine them with a loupe, you will see that some have bubbles inside the oil! Note that the pink in the end pictures is not fluorescence but is reflection off the quartz surface. She has a very small ding to the back of the termination of the larger twin but otherwise, is in excellent condition.??Click on the link below to see additional photos … and a brief video showing the oil fluorescence.
