This is a truly amazing quartz from a new shipment from Brazil that my supplier calls a BGE adaptogen. This crystal is 10.1 oz and 3.8” by 2.2” by 32.1 and is very unusual. There is a frosty appearance with a bit of elestial on one side. The base is well slanted and there is an area where the crystal was separated from another and it is partially healed. It also demonstrates that the citrine is the main crystal and the smoky is a secondary growth. On the edges of this area, there are some pretty pink areas that I thought they were lepidolite but the striations on the sides suggest tourmaline. One IS lepidolite and there are areas of purple as well. And then on a side, there is a yellow-green spot that is a penetrator crystal of quartz, likely the citrine that has that green cast..Overall, the cluster is light smoky with a citrine core. If you backlight the crystal, the smoky cast literally disappears and the citrine really glows brightly! And it exposes inclusions of mysterious white rods and try as I might, I can’t identify what they might be. You will really have a blast checking this one out with a loupe … it is beyond unusual!
