This is an amazing and unusual calcite cluster from Mexico, splendid in her rich, deep golden shades with brown phantom tips exposed with some crystals. She weighs 2.6 oz and measures 2.2” by 1.5” by 1.5” and is covered with glossy pyramid-like crystals that radiate a positively golden vibration. There is a definite iridescence to these golden crystals … this iridescence is sometimes shades of gold and in others, red. This type of calcite has been called ‘Mariposa’ because of the way they resemble a group of butterflies with wings folded. I think you’ll agree that if crystals could fly and flit among the flowers, this one would definitely do so!
