When I saw these on the table at my suppliers, I gasped – these are amazing, beautiful and unusual quartz! My supplier told me that these were the talk of Tucson in 2007 and in 2008 and from a new find from the Kullu Pass in Northern India, gateway to the Himalayans and home to many sacred temples. Global warming has exposed the area where these are found and they literally are picked up … as opposed to extracting from matrix. As a result, most are DT floaters. The color comes from hematite and not from titanium as true rose quartz does, so in spite of what some saw, this is not rose quartz – just a quartz that is rosy (albeit a light rosy-red) in color. Each is strangely configured and exceedingly intricate – no real faces, but yet thousands of them and this one holds a rather large trigonic record keeper. This one weighs 4.6 oz and measures 3.4” by 1.4” by 1.3” and is a study in color and form … intense and luscious! The crystal is perfect save for one ding.
